NanoBCA Requests Your Participation on 2014 U.S. Nanotechnology Commercialization Survey
Deadline extended until March 31st.
The 10-15 minute interactive survey may be accessed at www.usnanosurvey.org.
The NCMS has partnered with the National Science Foundation under the National Nanotechnology Initiative to conduct its latest study of commercialization trends in nanotechnology and nanofabrication – previous studies were performed in 2003, 2006 and 2009. The goal of this 2014 study is to document best practices in nano-product development and integration, and identify the challenges organizations (academia, government labs, start-ups or established corporations) face in transitioning nano-scale advances from the lab into sustainable commercial applications.
LG Chem to Acquire U.S. Desalination Membrane Innovator NanoH2O
NanoH2O Inc., a manufacturer of reverse-osmosis membranes that purify seawater to drinking quality while lowering the cost of desalination, is being purchased by Seoul-based LG Chem Ltd. for $200 million. The UCLA startup makes water potable from fresh, brackish and saltwater sources. The acquisition is expected to close in April.
Save the NNIN! Sign the Petition
Funding cuts will drastically reduce U.S. competitiveness in nanotechnology.
On March 4th, the National Science Foundation unexpectedly announced that they would not fund the Next Generation National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network, which would have allowed the NNIN to continue operating its network of shared nanofabrication and characterization facilities.
