What to Expect in Chemicals in 2022
WEBINAR
January 26, 2022
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Momentous changes initiated in 2021 will continue to influence policy development and rulemakings in 2022. Administration appointments in political leadership positions have been filled. New policies and priorities have been unveiled, and with Democrats in control, a more encouraging attitude toward regulation and regulatory initiatives has taken root.
Notwithstanding the emphasis declared by the White House about the issues of climate change and environmental justice for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Administration will continue to be challenged in having to address many other competing priorities. For EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), emphasis on science integrity, reviewing decisions made by the Trump Administration in both the pesticide and industrial chemicals programs, meeting statutory deadlines looming over the work of both programs, and dealing with the constant problem of EPA-wide competing priorities will drive the OCSPP program budget and regulatory priorities.
“What to Expect in Chemicals 2022” will delve into these important questions with Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. (B&C®) professionals with decades of experience to help evaluate what to expect in 2022.
Topics Covered:
– White House and OCSPP priorities
– Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) issues and priorities
– Recent developments in EPA efforts to better coordinate FIFRA efforts and Endangered Species Act (ESA) requirements
– Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) implementation issues and priorities –
– “Whole-chemical” approach to risk evaluations
– Updated science and new assumptions used in risk evaluations
– Status of existing chemicals risk evaluations
– New chemicals program

Lynn L. Bergeson, Managing Partner, B&C
Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Director of Chemistry, B&C
